EVOLV is excited to share this article from the July 2026 issue of WrapFam Unleashed Magazine, which featured a story about how EVOLV has been instrumental in the success of this past year's Gumball 3000 from Miami to Mexico City.
EVOLV: Behind Gumball 3000
Submitted by EVOLV
Every year, Gumball 3000 captures the imagination of automotive enthusiasts around the world. The rally's combination of exotic cars, celebrity drivers, influencers, musicians, athletes, and long-distance road trips has made it one of the most recognizable automotive lifestyle events on the planet.
The 2026 edition, billed as the Road to the World Cup, ran from Miami to Mexico City and brought together more than 100 cars for a route that crossed the United States and Mexico. Among this year's participants were actress Michelle Rodriguez, rapper Eve, Gumball founder Maximillion Cooper, DJs deadmau5 and Afrojack, former NFL player Jimmy Graham, soccer star Patrice Evra, rapper Bun B, Afrobeats artist Adekunle Gold, artist Slawn, and digital creators Vikkstar and Juca.
Behind the Starting Line
Fans followed the personalities, the supercars, and the route. What most people never saw was the work that took place before the first car rolled away from the starting line.
EVOLV, as the Official Wrap and PPF Partner of Gumball 3000, prepared, protected, branded, and transformed more than 120 vehicles before the rally began. For a company based in the Miami area, this year's rally carried extra meaning because the starting line was in its own backyard before heading through the United States and Mexico toward Mexico City.
The partnership was a chance to show what the automotive film industry contributes to an event of this scale. Before fans ever see the finished cars lined up, there are designers, production teams, wrap installers, PPF specialists, content creators, and logistics coordinators working through long days, tight timelines, and high-value vehicles that leave little room for mistakes.
For the automotive film industry, projects of this scale are rare. Every car presents a different challenge. Owners arrive on different schedules. Vehicles range from daily-driven performance cars to highly customized exotics worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Materials have to be produced, sorted, tracked, installed, and quality checked while the event clock keeps moving.
Built for the Rally
EVOLV's role also included the launch of two Gumball 3000 Special Edition Paint Protection Film colors developed for the event. Satin British Rally Blue was created as a nod to British motorsports heritage and the origins of Gumball 3000. Gloss World Cup White was developed around the international energy of the rally and its connection to the World Cup route.
Those colors gave the partnership a product story, not just an event story. Color PPF is becoming a serious option for owners who want to change the look of a vehicle while keeping the original paint protected underneath. For a rally like Gumball 3000, that combination matters. The cars need to stand out visually, but they also have to survive thousands of miles of real driving.
Protection Takes the Lead
The overwhelming majority of participating vehicles featured either traditional clear PPF, color PPF, or newer printable PPF solutions. Printable PPF pushes even further by combining custom graphics, sponsor liveries, artwork, and branding with the protection benefits traditionally associated with paint protection film.
Customization and protection are no longer separate conversations. Owners want both. Events like Gumball 3000 make that visible because the vehicles are not sitting still under show lights. They are being driven, photographed, filmed, shared, and exposed to the kind of real-world conditions that test both the material and the installation.
A Global Crew
The preparation effort also highlighted the international nature of the wrap and PPF community. Shops from the United States and Europe worked together to complete the installations, including Black Diamond Tint & Protection, Denar Garage, DrWrapitUp, Italica, Morgan Wraps, Pride Detailing, Super 7 Custom Cars, The Wrap Shed, Von Wraps, and Wrap Innovations.
Inside the installation facility, installers from different countries worked side by side, sharing techniques, solving problems, and helping ensure every vehicle was ready for launch day. The project was a reminder that while the industry spans continents, the community itself is surprisingly connected. Different languages, different shops, and different working styles all came together around the same deadline.
Another important part of the project involved documenting the process. While fans often see the completed vehicles on social media, the preparation work rarely receives the same attention. EVOLV wanted that part of the story to be visible too.
Content creators Chelsea Gunnels and Luis of Track Creativo helped capture the long days, vehicle transformations, team interactions, final reveals, and the work happening before the rally officially began. Their coverage offered a rare look into an industry that usually operates behind the scenes, despite playing a major role in how modern automotive events are experienced and remembered.
As planning begins for next year's rally, expected to travel from Seoul to Tokyo, the 2026 event leaves behind more than memories of celebrity appearances and exotic machinery. It also shines a light on the installers, designers, technicians, production teams, and content creators whose work helped bring the rally to life.
For every Gumball 3000 car that turns heads on the road, there is an entire crew working behind the scenes to make it happen. This year, EVOLV helped bring that crew into the story.
